Alchemy build some nice bikes. Period.
As they put it themselves
“At Alchemy Bicycle Company we recognize that each rider is unique and should have a bicycle that reflects their style, personality, riding preferences and body dimensions.”
Based in Austin, TX Alchemy build Road, MTB, 29ers as well as track bikes from all the glorious materials bestowed to us – Carbon, Ti and Steel.
Alchemy use the Retul Custom Bike Fitting Technology to get you dialed into the perfect fit.
What they’re doing with the Ti/Carbon builds really does make the craft of the build shine and they sure can make a very very good looking machine. My only slight critisim aesthetically is that there’s a nod to IF in terms of styling, particularly with the Ti/Carbon lugs but that’s about it.

If you’re going to top of your finest rider with a perch of equal finery you’re not going to go far wrong with this saddle from British exotic parts co. Ultimate Sports Engineering.
Take some Ti rails and mate them to a hand finished carbon shell and then top with some of the best leather money can buy. This particular upholstery comes from Connolly who also happen to supply leather for the interiors of none other than Bentley Motor Cars.
Is it nice? Yes it sure is and it does add that touch of perfection to an oft forgotten part of a bike.
Perfect for: seating on the finest leather in the world and some superbly finished carbon.

Looking for some swish gloves for city cruising? Not really for racing but still very nice.
The Rapha track gloves arrive at the door smelling of sweet, soft leather. Maticlousley finished with perforated backs, accent labels and neat velcro fasteners they fit like, well, gloves. With collaborator Paul Smith Rapha have found a sweet spot of style, function and heritage.
There’s really not many nicer gloves money can buy, you’ll have the best looking hands in the pelloton. Just remember to keep looking at the road and not just your hands, there’s little of a sweat mopper let alone a bloody nose mopper. Long term the leather stays supple with only minor abrasions to the surface which all add to the patina of a well riden hand product of distinction.
Buy them from Rapha.cc or find a Rapha retail partner near you.
New England has a long heritage in the frame building business. Patrick Brady has worked through this tangled web and documented the interwoven and industrious work being undertaken in this little corner of the US. Seven, Serotta, Fat City and Merlin have all proved to be seeding grounds for some of the most exciting craftsmanship around.

I was lucky enough be be in NYC recently so took a stroll along to NYC Velo to take in what I’d been told was NYC’s finest cycle emporium and I wasn’t disappointed.
What a great bunch of guys, with a really well planned range of gear. Bikes from Vanilla, Ellis, Geekhouse and Independent Fabrication. Highlights we’re probably the IF Corvid but also the smattering of retro gear tucked away at the back including an Yo and a Bontrager.
If you’re downtown and fancy dropping in on the guys and gals over there I’d certainly recommend it.

A great insight from the guys over at Firefly that really does put into context the absolute craftsmanship involved in creating the most elegant Titanium welds. Having seen a Firefly recently in the flesh it’s great to see what goes into the process.
